Lost Lake

This weekend, after spring term finals, I was able to drive up to Colorado to visit Jeff for the weekend. My sister, Natalie, and her fiance, Michael, were going to Castle Rock to visit his parents, so they dropped me off in Lakewood, which is right outside Denver. We got there Thursday night, so I had the whole day Friday to myself while Jeff was in training. I was able to spend the whole day with my aunt Nancy her husband John, and we went on a crazy hike. It was Lost Lake hike, and as we realized, very well named. It was supposed to be 5.5 miles up and 5.5 miles back, being 11 miles in total. However we got lost on the way to the hike, and so we wandered for probably an hour and a half. So we figure we actually hike 12 miles, if you count the time we were lost. But, anyways it was a great day. I was hurting pretty bad by mile 12, and so were Nancy and John. But it was worth it. The hike was a good escape from school, and it really gives you a better perspective on life when you get out in nature and realize how small you are in comparison with the Earth. Our camera is officially broken, we don't know how, it just won't charge up or turn on.

So thankfully, Nancy gave me some of the pictures that she took.

On Saturday Jeff and I tried to go to the Denver Zoo, because we have heard it is a pretty good zoo. We tried renting a car to get there, no luck, we tried catching a bus, and ended up being one block from the bus stop and seeing our bus drive away. We tried calling a taxi but it never came. So we popped some popcorn, and played a game of Settlers instead. We didn't want to go the zoo anyway! Well, only a few more days and Jeff will be home for good. Here are a few pictures of the Lost Lake.

One Vain Post

So, while alot has been going, there haven't been many photo oppurtunities. Jeff started his job up in Salt Lake at the Veterans Benefits Association, he really likes it so far, except for the commute which means waking up at 5:00 every morning to catch the carpool. It's been a rough transition. The first first he got canker sores all over the back of his throat. We thought it was strep, but no, just a lack of sleep. (and you're probably glad we didn't take a picture of it!) Poor guy! Spring semester is almost over. I have really liked it alot better than Fall/Winter terms. It is just quicker, less time to procrastinate, smaller class, and it's over faster. I officially switched my major to Exercise Science on Wednesday, and I am all set to graduate in April 2009! Pretty exciting. I can believe this is my fourth summer in Utah! It has gone by quickly.

Some other things:

We went and visited some good friends in Salt Lake, and even brought our camera, but didn't take pictures. :(

we hiked the Y, brought our camera, asked a man to take our picture, and it was out of batteries. Kind of embarrassing!

But a couple things we do have pictures of and they're both of me (sorry I'm so vain)

I GOT A GREAT HAIRCuT!

I finally got my hair cut and highlighted after months of indecision! Ireally like how it turned out

SOrry the picture is sideways! I tried to change it but I am not very computer savvy!

AND..... I ran in the Bridal Veil 10 K (6 .2 miles) on May 31st! It was really great! It was my first timing ever running in a race longer than 5k, so I was really nervous before the race started. But it was a gorgeous day, and a really nice run! I had a lot of fun! This is the only picture Jeff took, and that is right before the race, showing my nervous face! I was so nervous!

Sorry about the vain post! We should be better about taking pictures! But the next pictures we post will probaby just have Jeff in them, because he is leaving me for THREE weeks! :( He is going to Denver, CO for a three week training (they call it the "Challenge") for his new job. I'll really miss him.
