So, I am very much the antithesis of a pack rat. Not that my house is clean or organized, but i hate holding onto stuff. Especially paper. Even memory type stuff. I just feel like it just takes up space, and that I'll never go back and look through it. Which is definetely true if I throw it away, right?
But I would like to remember certain things. So I hold on to some things, and then when I do go back through the mountain of paper that collect anyways, despite my best efforts, I wonder why did I keep this and not that... and then I throw that away too.
So on Sunday I saw the program from the San Antonio Symphony and I kind of wanted to keep it, because I want to remember the pieces' names and composers... and I so I went through the mental struggle of to keep or not to keep. I asked Jeff, and he told me to just throw it away. I mentioned my desire to remember the pieces that we've seen, and he suggested I just blog about it, (he also suggested I take up scrapbooking, but that will never happen).
So this is mostly for me, if not totally:
We went to the Majestic to volunteer and were able to see the San Antonio Symphony perform 3 amazing pieces:
Serenade No. 7 in D major K.250 by Mozart
1. Allegro maestoso- Allegro molto
2. Andante
3.Menuetto
4.Rondo: Allegro
5.Menuetto galante
6.Andante
7.Menuetto
8.Adagio- Allegro assai
This one was cool. It was 8 movements long. It was a really long song! The 2-4th movements were a solo violinist (who was also the conductor). It was pretty impressive to watch him play the solo, and conduct the orchestra at the same time.
Strauss'
Prelude to Capriccio
This one was by far my favorite! It was alot shorter, but it was a really emotional piece for me, not saying I cried or anything, the music just made me really reflective and feel alot of different emotions and memories, which doesn't happen often... at least for me.
and finally
Bizet's
Symphony No. 1 in C major
1. Allegro Vivo
2. Adagio
3. Allegro vivace
4. Allegro vivace
This piece was very energetic, and each movement was musically different. There was a very fast powerful movement, and a very beautiful, melodic movement. The 3rd movement was intended to sound like a bagpipe playing, which was really cool, and the 4th was a perfect summation of all of the previous movements.
I really liked going, and even though it was a long time to just sit there and listen to music, I feel like listening to Classical Music and really paying attention takes practice and alot of mental concentration, and so it kind of felt like I had accomplished something by just going and listening.
We'll probably be going to several symphonies, mostly because we "have" to in order to still be a volunteer and be able to sign up for the cool stuff, like West Side Story, which we are seeing on Saturday! I am so excited. West Side Story is by far my favorite musical.
Anyways, now I can go throw my program away! Whew. That will be nice.

It's about time we announced it :
Jeff and I will be welcoming a little one in our family this coming August.
We are pretty excited.
In about a week and a half we'll have our sonogram to see if things are going well, and also to find out the gender.
But until then....

Here is a picture of me a couple weeks ago. I probably am a little bigger now...
Early Expressions Piano Camps
This week has been Spring Break for me, and it has also been the first week of Early Expressions Piano Camps.
A friend of mine asked me if I would interested in doing a preschool piano camp with her. I said yes, and we DID IT!
She had fabulous ideas of curriculum, and take home materials, and I helped her put it together. I am so grateful she asked me to do this with her. I have loved being a part of it.
At the beginning of the week we had 8 people signed up, but only 4 ended up coming. I think that is kind of typical for San Antonio...
But we didn't lose any money. In fact, we each made 10$, after supplies and everything. :) So it was a sucess. We are going to do it again, and I am so excited.
You should all check our website, www.earlyexpressionspiano.blogspot.com. There will be pictures up shortly of this week's activities, and if you are interested in enrolling your kiddo(s) we are having another Level 1 session in June, and perhaps a Level 2 session also!
