Visit to See Uncle Mike and Aunt Jamie

While in WA we were able to take a day trip and visit my brother Mike and his beautiful wife Jamie. I am so glad we could see them. They spoiled us with presents, and we had a great time catching up, and playing a game, and eating pizza. I was so very glad that they got to meet Abigail. She loved them, and enjoyed being held by them. I wished we lived closer and could see them more often. Thanks Mike and Jamie for a great time!

Cousin Love

Abi sure is lucky to have such loving, fun cousins! A couple of these pics are from October, but I have never put them up. She looks way smaller in those ones! It's amazing how fast she is growing. On our latest trip, Logan and Macey showed her alot of love. Especially Logan. He loved to hold her and squeeze her. When I was in Utah in October, Anna held her soo much. She was so good with her.

Happy Late Holidays!

So, big surprise.... we're late getting Christmas Cards out, and again we decided against the expense of sending real ones out. Maybe next year!

Whenever it comes to writing a Christmas Letter, or even a blog post, you run into the dillemma of  coming across as either superficial, braggy, or with too many details and boring. But each year, I feel like writing a Christmas letter should be done. We had a good year. It was not without its ups and downs, like any year, or any family experiences, but really nothing to write home about. We are so grateful to be healthy, happy and here in San Antonio. We love the warmer weather, and being in a bigger city makes leaving the big city that much sweeter when we do. We want our friends and family to know how much we cherish their love, support and friendship. We also want to share the joy and gratitude we have in our lives because of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. It gives our lives purpose and helps us to keep our heads up when we're feeling down. We hope you all had a peaceful Christmas and are looking forward to a great 2012.

World Traveler or Unaccompanied Minor?

While I was out of my seat, Jeff snapped this awesome pic. She looks like she knows what she is doing, huh?

We just got back from a nice trip to Washington to see Jeff's family. Abigail did awesome on the plane rides there and back, except for on the very last plane, when she was hungry, tired and we had lost her pacifier during the security checkpoint. On our last flight from Pheonix we sat next to an "unaccompanied minor." Jeff asked this 8 yr. old kid a couple questions and he did not stop talking until he passed out because it was way past his bed time. Jeff asked him what he got for Christmas and he pulled out like 6 action figures from his pockets. He then asked Jeff what his favorite toy was when he was a kid stating, "And I know you had toys back then. Toys have always been around." Then when the flight attendent handing out the drinks, she said to me, "give this to your son." Well, I guess we're getting old. Heck, next month Jeff will be 28!

Sleep

Everyone is asleep in this house right now.... except for me. Can't sleep. I guess it's only 10 but both Abigail and Jeff zonked out shortly after 7. So I thought I'd put up a couple pics. Speaking of sleep, after Abi girl got sick with her UTI, she stopped sleeping so great, and finally we are back up to 8 hour stretches, most nights. But I'm not complaining, at all.

Here she is all wrapped up for the night! So peaceful... can't let go of that paci!

And her she is in the morning right before her morning medicine!

It is amazing how babies get used to schedules, or things that happen on a regular basis. We give her medicine at 7am, 3pm, and 11pm orally, every day, and we try really hard not to deviate by more than an hour, because it could cause her problems. At 11 pm she has gotten really good and taking her medicine in her sleep and staying asleep (isn't that amazing?). Every morning she wakes us up now right around 7. In the afternoons she is usually in middle of her afternoon nap at 3, but almost every day she will wake up in the middle (right around 3) and start crying. I'll go give her medicine, and she goes right back to sleep. She is such a champion!

Oh, and she is definitely ticklish! If I tickle her in her armpits and make funny noises, I can almost get a real laugh out of her! It's my favorite. I'm not sure if she actually likes it or not, becuase she also looks a bit shocked, but she is smiling so I guess I'm ok.

Keep on Rollin'

Nichole woke up in the middle of the night last night with an upset stomach. Turns out she has the flu, so I'm staying home today taking care of her and Abigail. I really hope Nichole feels better soon because I think feeling nauseous and throwing up is miserable. But, on the plus side-because I was home today I was lucky enough to witness Abi rolling over for the first time! It was awesome. She is really growing up into such a big girl. Good job Abi, just keep on rollin'!

Reenactment of her before rolling over: Gearing up for the exciting event by sucking on her fist covered in a sock and getting a pep talk from her monkey friend.

Reenactment of her after rolling over: Celebrating by sucking on her fist covered in a sock and partying with her monkey friend.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

101 Things I am Thankful for this Thanksgiving

2.       Nichole-she is my best friend.

3.       Abigail-she fills me with so much joy every time I look at her

4.       Music-Moonlight Sonata, anything by Ben Folds or the Beattles, Riverwalk Jazz on Saturday evenings, singing the Spanish primary songs in the mornings, playing “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head” on our piano, Nichole’s piano camp, “Autumn Time”, “Adagio Bird flies slow”

5.       Sports-Basketball on Thursday nights, a good game of racquetball or Tennis, an intense BYU basketball or football game, sports center highlights.

6.       Our dog, Mo-Anytime she acts like a normal dog, how she gets so excited to see me when I come home, “the great Modini,” when we thought she was lost but was just hanging out with another dog and was scared of the back yard for weeks because our neighbors had a loud party

7.       Food-Hot fudge sundaes, sweet potatoes, Wendys, asparagus, watermelon, barbeques, corn on the cob, pancake and sausage on a stick, soup, fish, really good burritos, tacos, fajitas or enchiladas, a fruit smoothie, orange Julius and popcorn at the Francis house

8.       Our neighbors-George and Sharon watching Abigail while we went to a Hockey game, The Al Hadad family having us over for an amazing dinner and teaching us about Islam, The Binghams and Hills who have now moved away but were such good neighbors, Reina giving me and a Nichole a chance to practice our Spanish, even our partying neighbors giving us a chance to practice our patience and charity

Baaa!!!

So, two years ago Jeff saw this cupcake book on someone's coffee table and mentioned how the cupcakes looked good. I told my Mom about it, and she placed it on her wishlist on paperbackswaps (a cool way to trade books online, you can get really great books for basically free) and two years later, this wonderful book showed up in the mail. Proof that good things DO come to those who wait. Jeff didn't even remember the book at all. We have had ALOT of fun making and trying yummy cupcakes. In fact, probably too much fun. We have made marshmallow-filled chocolate cupcakes, peanut-butter filled chocolate cupcakes, two varieties of pumpkin cupcakes, mint filled chocolate cupcakes, and these sheep cupcakes. I will probably never make cupcake from a box ever again. These are just too good!

So I made these sheep cupcakes for our preschool piano class. I  was really excited to try them, and they turned out--- okay. Alot of work, and they actually kind of tasted gross. But you should have seen the kids' eyes when they saw them. They were pretty excited. So if you are looking for a fun christmas gift for a baker in the family-- we highly recommend this book, just maybe not the sheep cupcakes. :)

Long overdue - Memora'belle

So, a very talented photographer in our ward took some beautiful pictures of Abigail when she was still a newborn. I was looking at them today  and missing my tiny little baby. That newborn time goes SOoo fast.  **** Side note;Abigail had her kidneys sonogramed today, we'll find out soon if she has any problems with them. She was such a good little baby. In fact, I don't think she had any idea that anything out of the ordinary was going on. She just laid there and sucked on her fist and smiled at the sonographer. I wish I had brought my camera (is that grammar correct?)*****

On to the beautiful pictures:

Jessica, the photographer who took these pictures is very sweet and talented. To see more of her work, check out her website, www.memorabelle.com!

3 months of our Happy Abi!

Abigail is 3 months!!! (and a couple weeks.... I am always a little late)
These pictures speak for themselves.I put them all up, because I figure you can never have too many pictures of Abigail. I love these because you each one she is giving a different look. My awesome friend Jenny took these one day while she was watching Abi for an hour while I went visiting teaching. So nice. They really do a better job of capturing her, than the pictures we take! So if you like these pictures and want jenny to take pics of your sweet kiddos check out her photography blog jennybayphotography.blogspot.com.

So, Abigail didn't have a pediatric appt this month, but she did have a cardiology appt, and she did go to the ER! Boo! She had a high temp, and we didn't know what to do! It kept going up and down, and so finally on Friday night we took her temp and it was 101.7 (still not super high) and called the nurse, and she said to take her in. After  4 days and 2 catherizations later, we found out she had/has a UTI. Poor girl. In spite of this, she is still our happy Abi! But they weighed and measured her so  here are her stats:

Weight 12 pounds 7 ounces (only a gain of a pound, definetely a slow down from last month where she gained 3 pounds)
Length 25 1/2 inches! She grew 3 inches in a month. I remember in my biggest growth spurts in high school I grew like 2 inches in a YEAR! I can't imagine what it must feel like to grow 3 inches in a month. No wonder when I pick her up sometimes I can feel her bones popping.

She smiles a ton, and talks really loud (especially to her Dad, they yell at each other each morning, it's quite amusing to watch). Her new love in life is her fist. It entertains her all day long. And when she gets sick of intensely gazing at it, she sucks on it. Not her thumb, but her entire fist. She is using her pacifier less and less. She loves laying on her playmat and hitting this monkey to make it light up and make sounds. It is so fun to be in the kitchen and hear her in the living room kicking the toy and hear it sound off. She can do a mini pushup, and holds her head up really well.

Being a Mom- Good Day

I had to get a picture with Abi today, because I actually got a shower! :) And she was so cute and good today, I want to remember this day.
She is getting so big. She loves to be sitting up, and can support her head so well. She is a very easy baby, because generally whenever she gets tired, wherever she is, she falls asleep, without much fuss. This is a classic picture.

So, being a Mom has been a wonderful  and challenging transition. Mostly wonderful. I feel blessed, because I think Abigail is an especially good baby. I may be wrong, she may be just a normal baby, but she is not fussy, and she sleeps 10-11 hours at night.... without waking up, and she sleeps for about 2 hours 3-4 times during the day. But even still, I have had my share of feeling tired and overwhelmed, and then I feel guilty for feeling that way because Abi is the easiest baby on Earth, and I am getting sleep! So, I don't know why, but I still feel like I am not quite in the swing of things, and that life is passing by me so fast, and I am not quite a full participant in it. The biggest challenge I have is my memory loss. It is quite extreme and frustrating, and my attention span and concentration have suffered too, which make me frustrated, and also frustrating to be around (try having a conversation with someone who can't remember anything, and cant concentrate for more than 1.1 minutes at a time).

So today, when I got a shower, went on a walk (in the beautiful weather) kept my house clean, got a nap, AND felt like I spent some good quality time with Abigail, who was smiley and happy and content ALL day long, I had to document it. What a good day today was, and what a wonderful blessing I have to stay home with her and take in the good and bad days.
