Some January Highlights

So the blog post these days are quite sparse, but that's okay. Whatever we do record we'll love later, but I'm not going to stress about it.

January has certainly FLOWN by.

Here are some highlights:

1. We went to Kentucky and visited our really awesome and cool friends the Francis family. They used to lived in our neighborhood and 8 months later we're still in denial. :) We had a blast, enjoyed the short experience with freezing weather and snow, played lots of games and just enjoyed each other's company. Abigail was in heaven. She loved every minute and slept so well. It's probably because it felt like home to her, because she was over there so much when they lived close.

I'm  making a totally goofy face, but Shannon looks beautiful as always

In Heaven. Abi drained the battery of that poor reindeer.
2. Spent about 10 days quarantined at our house, sick, with Jeff taking the car b/c of the "cold" weather. It made me appreciate my health and the freedom of having a car. After about 5 days of only being with me, some people came over, and Abi was beside herself with excitement. But with being home alot Abi an Mo have bonded. See below

3. Jeff bought beautiful flowers, for no reason. What a wonderful man  I have. And he wanted to take picture.:)

4. Abi has really taken an interest in cooking. She loves to be a part of whatever I'm doing, especially when I'm in the kitchen cooking. We made a big breakfast one Saturday and she loved "helping" me crack the eggs, and mix everything together.

4. Some other things:
  • Jeff's job is awesome, and some weeks when he is finished with his case load on Thursday, his supervisor lets him "work from home" on Friday, since he has no work to do.
  • I pretend to teach Piano. Right now, just teaching 2 kids, but I'm grateful for it. I really love it, just wish I felt like I had more to offer.
  • I was released from the Primary, then called right back to the exact same calling (just a president change). Now I know a few things: 1. Heavenly Father answers prayers. 2. Heavenly Father has a sense of humor. 3. Primary is a wonderful thing, and a wonderful place to be.
  • The weather this last week has been noteworthy. Beautiful, sunny, and I mowed the lawn and got a sunburn! I love it.

Before:

So,

We are changing things up around our house, and I am excited. We sold our couches, and got a sectional, we are going to paint, and change the flooring, and we've rearranged some furniture. Eventually it'll look totally different. Here is a before picture. This will probably be a few months before things are looking normal again. Also I am not a very good decorator, and i'm afraid of color, but we are going to paint the walls a light sandy gray color, and do white curtains, and the sectional is gray courdoroy, and then yellow accents. So, I have a feeling that the whole yellow/gray trend is on the way out, but I don't care. It'll be new to me. Mostly am just excited to get rid of the smelly old carpet.
Here's to improvement that actually improve our space. I get so nervous changing things because it's so expensive, and what if we pick the wrong color, etc? So these before pictures are really lame, but they're the pictures we put to sell our couches, so they focus on the couches. I just don't think about these things until it's too late.

Abi's Excited...And So Are We!

Ok, so Abi has no idea what is coming or what these pictures are of, but we are excited to announce another baby is coming our way in July! July 9th is the guess, I mean due date. We will find out in a couple weeks what the gender is. We are excited for July, but will also savor these last months with just one child.

You Are My I Love You

I took Abi to the library today and we spent some time looking at books, and I came across this beautiful book that sums up my feelings about being a Mom, and how much I love my Abi. Parenthood is such a gift, a miracle and a joy. For every hard day, there are so many more wonderful joyous moments. Moments upon moments that I wouldn't give up for anything else. This poem/book helps me see the simple wonder of childhood and the relationship between a parent and a child.

You Are My I Love You

Author: Maryann K Cusimano
I am your parent you are my child
I am your quiet place, you are my wild
I am your calm face, you are my giggle
I am your wait, you are my wiggle
I am your audience, you are my clown
I am your London Bridge, you are my falling down
I am your Carrot Sticks, you are my licorice
I am your dandelion, you are my first wish
I am your water wings, you are my deep
I am your open arms, you are my running leap
I am your way home, you are my new path
I am your dry towel, you are my wet bath
I am your dinner you are my chocolate cake
I am your bedtime, you are my wide awake
I am your finish line, you are my race
I am your praying hands, you are my saving grace
I am your favourite book, you are my new lines
I am your nightlight, you are my sunshine
I am your lullaby, you are my peek-a-boo
I am your kiss goodnight, you are my I love you
