Our sweet little Emily Grace turned one this last Wednesday, July 2nd. It's hard to believe it's been a year already. She has grown up so much and it is so fun to see her getting closer every day to walking and talking. Emily has a ton of energy and makes life a party wherever she goes. She must have been born with music in her soul because she is always dancing even when there's no beat. She is as intense as ever and still impossible to force to do anything she doesn't want to do. She loves her milk and cookies and whatever kind of food she sees that she wants. She lets us know by babbling and pointing very insistently. She is an excellent crawler and can easily switch to hands and feet if the terrain gets too rough for her knees. She loves to roll around on any soft surface and can hold her own in a wrestling match. Her and Abi have really started interacting with each other on a different level than ever before. Emily watches whatever Abi does and then wants to do the same. She's got a mouth full of teeth and knows how to use them. She is still exploring the world by putting everything in her mouth first. She's not the most ticklish girl, but if she's in the right mood you can get a very tortured sounding laugh. She is still sporting the toe-head look with just a tuft of super blonde hair on top. We're so glad that she kept her intense blue eyes and are so excited to see how she will look as she continues to burn off those awesome rolls and grows into a young lady. But we're in no hurry as cuddling with Emily is the funnest thing ever and it just won't be the same without that soft chub.
I just switched to a 4-10 schedule with Wednesdays as my day off. So, I was able to spend the whole day with the girls to celebrate EGB's b-day. After a morning of hanging out, we went to Ahtanum Park where we found a cool little garden. That's where all of these pictures are from. That evening, we had a party with the grandparents and cousins. We had dinner then watched a video compiling highlights of Emily's first year. Then we opened presents. We got Emily a really cool ball-pit with a tunnel attached. I guess we didn't take a picture of it. But, the kids loved it. They went crazy. Emily enjoyed her cupcake and the balloons. Saturday we invited a few families over and had pizza, brownies, ice cream, etc. We printed out 12 pictures depicting the first 12 months of her life. Then everyone had to guess the order. It was fun. Nichole aced it, but even though I put it together, I still got some months mixed up.
